The Air Up There: Bud Light Big Air Fridays

Bud Light Big Air Fridays
Here in Aspen we simply can not get enough of gravity defying-amplitude, just think: X Games, King of Quarters, Aspen/Snowmass Open, and now, the Bud Light Big Air Fridays. In its sixth year the eight week series, which kicks off Feb. 15 on Fanny Hill, invites skiers and riders to throw their best and biggest tricks. Spectators can look forward to 9s, 12s, and even a backflip or two, followed by live music from 3 to 4:30 p.m., and fireworks at 7 p.m.

Think you got what it takes to nab first place? Size up the competition from last year's Big Air Fridays by watching the piece below, then register by calling Aspen Skiing Co. at 925.1220.

The Aspen/Snowmass Open Returns

Aspen/Snowmass Open
In its third year the Feb. 7-10 Aspen/Snowmass Open gives up-and-coming (and established) skiers and snowboarders a chance to get into the ESPN Winter X Games Slopestyle and Superpipe courses to compete for a prize purse of $50,000. And with so much money on the line, you better believe these skiers and riders are putting it all on the table with a whole lot of amped-up 9s, 12s, back flips, and more. Action-sports enthusiasts can expect big performances from locals Michael Olenick and Teddy Karlinski, as well as Sean Field, Mike Hornbeck, and Henrik Lampert to name a few. It may seem like a mini X Games—but we assure you that when you see these jibbers and jumpers in action, you’ll know they mean business.

Want to see what the action is all about? Check out our piece from day three of last year's Open, or check out our footage below from the first day of the 2007 Aspen/Snowmass Open.
