They say that giving is better than receiving. And what better way to give this holiday season than by participating in the Summit for Life Uphill Race. This benefit, which was formally known as Storm the Stars, is the only nighttime endurance event in the Valley and takes place December 1.
What's the Cause?
Summit for Life benefits the American Transplant Foundation (ATF) and the Chris Klug Foundation (CKF). While ATF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the availability of transplant organs in America, CKF is a donor-focussed nonprofit started by liver transplant recipient, Olympic bronze medalist, and Aspen local Chris Klug.
What's the deal?
The race kicks off at 6 p.m. at the base of the Little Nell run on Aspen Mountain. With the help of a headlamp, competitors can snowshoe, skin, run, or use another creative form of nonmotorized equipment to ascend the 3,267 vertical ft. If you're not feeling up for the ascent you can support a racer by making a pledge, or by signing up for Ride for Life and hitch a ride on the gondola for the after-race party at the Sundeck. Tickets to the party cost $60 for adults, $35 for children, and children 3 and under ride for free.
Where do I sign up?
