It is officially 2008, folks, and time to follow through on that New Year's resolution--losing the bulge, getting fit, and working out regularly. Lucky for you, Aspen has a plethora of activities to keep you moving.
The Om Factor
Flexibility helps skiers and riders avoid injury on the mountain, so warm up before heading out at O2 Aspen during Pilates for Skiers or loosen your muscles after a big day on the mountain at Après Ski Stretch. If you prefer it hot, check out Bikram's Yoga in Aspen and Basalt, where you will get centered in a room heated to more than 100 degrees. O2 Aspen; 970-925-4002, Bikram's Yoga; 970-925-7276
Into Gear
The Aspen Club & Spa can help those who need a little extra motivation by offering personal training, wellness coaching, and a variety of membership options--including day passes for those on vacation. Break a sweat in studio classes and reward yourself afterwards with a relaxing steam and soak. The Aspen Club & Spa; 970-925-8900
Mix it up One Time
You won't get bored at the Aspen Recreation Center with its climbing tower, 25-yard lap pool, weight and cardio rooms, and fitness classes. Options to buy daily, monthly, six-month, or and annual passes make it easy and affordable to get in shape. Aspen Recreation Center; 970-544-4100
Fun in the Fresh Air
For an outdoor adventure, throw on stabilizers or snowshoes and trek up Buttermilk, Smuggler, or Two Creeks on Snowmass during the day, or challenge yourself after the sun goes down by hiking with a head lamp. (For a truly Colorado experience, participate in a favorite local tradition--hiking by the light of a full moon.)
Whether you prefer getting your heart pumping indoors or out, make this year different from all the others by keeping your resolution until it's time to make a new one for 2009.
