Summer Ends to the Tune of Jazz Aspen Snowmass

The Jazz Aspen Snowmass (JAS) Labor Day Festival will close out one crazy summer season with an unforgettable weekend of big-name musical acts including Ben Harper, The Allman Brothers Band, Gov't Mule, Joss Stone, and many more August 31-September 3.Kicking off the weekend are bluegrass trio Nickel Creek and passionate crooner Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals at Snowmass Town Park Friday. Saturday's main-stage star-studded lineup includes Aspen's favorite jam band, Galactic, followed by soulful songstress Joss Stone. Closing out Saturday's festivities is R&B singer/songwriter and pianist John Legend. Sunday boasts the polyethnic-cajun-slamgrass of Leftover Salmon and the socially conscious music of Michael Franti & Spearhead with legendary Southern rockers The Allman Brothers Band wrapping up the night. Doors open at noon Monday with performances by multi-instrumentalist Jackie Greene, married guitar gods Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, and live-show legends Gov't Mule.In addition to the overflowing schedule, JAS also has two side stages—the JAS Music Club and JAS Village Stage—where up-and-coming musicians keep the audience moving and grooving in between headlining performances. If all that grooving makes you hungry, indulge in the wide array of food in the JAS Vendor Village (we look forward to it all year long.) While you eat, listen to the eclectic sounds of Big Daddy Lee & the Kingbees, Great American Taxi, and more as they take over while the main stage takes a break. The JAS Music Club, located across from the main stage, provides a venue to keep you dancing with performances by Peter Karp, Ryan Shaw, Georgia-based quintet Tishamingo, and New York quintet Ollabelle.As if that weren't enough music, there's still more. JAS After Dark shows keep the party going with 10 p.m. performances from the likes of Jes Grew, Elemenopee, and many others at a variety of Snowmass venues (The Artisan, Cirque Bar & Grill, and Mountain Dragon).
